The Sugar Glider is a nocturnal marsupial mammal that
feeds on nectar, insect and the sap from eucalyptus trees. It was named by timber-getters
and bushmen who found they liked honey, sugar and jam. Most gliders live in family groups and huddle together in leaf-lined tree hollows for warmth when the weather turns cold. Scent markings are therefore well developed. Sugar Gliders have blue-grey to brown-grey top coats with a dark stripe down along the back. Their bushy tail is as long as their body and changes colour from grey to a black tip. Some people around the world keep sugar gliders as pets, but I think they look best when you find them in the bush!
